Softball Hits Four Homers in Win Over Rider
The Central Connecticut State softball team hit four home runs to close the weekend with a 5-3 win over Rider on Sunday at the Spartan Clash.
Ashlyn Desaulniers and Grace Lawton each hit two home runs.

KEY MOMENTS
- Ashlyn Desaulniers led off the bottom of the first with a homerun to centerfield to make it 1-0. With one out and a runner on, Grace Lawton hit Central's second homer of the inning to push the lead to 3-0.
- Rider would get a run back in the second inning on an RBI-double by Emma Morgan to make it 3-1. The Broncs tied the game in the top of the third on a two-run double by Abby Cruz to make it 3-3.
- CCSU regained the lead in the fourth inning when Lawton led off with her second homerun of the day to make it 4-3.
- Rider put runners on second and third in the fifth inning, but had a runner thrown out at home on a fielder's choice to the infield.
- In the bottom of the fifth with two outs, Desaulniers hit her second homer with a solo shot to left field to make it 5-3.
- Liz Hamilton retired the final six hitters to close out her second win of the weekend.
NOTES
- Lawton drove in three runs on the day, while Lawton had the other two.
- Hamilton scattered five hits over 7.0 innings in the win.
- Ava Cino had a single for Central's only other hit.
- Lawton led the offense on the weekend, hitting .579 with two home runs and seven RBIs.
