Softball Drops Pair at Towson TIger Invite
The Blue Devils play two more games on Saturday
The Central Connecticut State softball team opened play at the Towson Tiger Invite on Friday, falling to UMass Lowell and Towson. CCSU will play Coppin State and Towson on Saturday

KEY MOMENTS
- UMass Lowell took an early lead, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning, before adding two runs in the each of the third and fourth innings. An RBI-triple by Julia Rowley, followed by a sacrifice fly opened the scoring and Elizabeth Neeld hit a two-run homerun in the third to make it 4-0.
- The RiverHawks added to the lead in the fourth inning following three straight hits. Back-to-back singles by Avery Spinello-Branch and Rowley pushed the lead to six runs.
- CCSU would get on the board with two runs in the fifth inning. Skylar Warn singled with one out and moved to third on an error that put two runners in scoring position. With two outs, Ashlyn Desaulniers singled to right-center to drive in two runs and make it 6-2.
- UML responded in the bottom of the inning, closing out the scoring with three runs on two hits and took advantage of an error.

KEY MOMENTS
- Towson opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second inning. The Tigers loaded the bases with one out before Jada Wade hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.
- The Tigers added a run in the third inning. With two outs and a runner on second, Grace Franczyk singled to drive in the opening run.
- Central tied the game with two runs in the fourth inning. Ava Cino led off with a single and would come all the way around to score on an error. Skylar Warn followed with a double to plate Stella Gasper from second to tie the game, 2-2.
- Towson regained the lead in the bottom of the inning, plating four runs. CCSU would record two outs in the frame before Towson loaded the bases. Back-to-back singles by Kaci Benton and Addie Ferguson each drove in two runs to make it 6-2.
- Benton and Franczyk would each hit a solo homer in the sixth inning to close out the scoring.
NOTES
- Desaulniers drove in both of Central's runs in the first game.
- Gasper and Warn collected RBIs in the second game.
- Ava Cino had three hits on the day to lead CCSU, including two hits in the second game.
- Hailey Strunk threw a complete game in the opener and recorded a pair of strikeouts.
- Liz Hamilton struck out two in a complete game in the second contesst.
