Softball Falls to Norfolk State in Second Game Saturday
The Central Connecticut State softball team fell to Norfolk State, 8-6, on Saturday in its second game at the Spartan Clash.
Lilly Waterer had two hits and drove in two runs, while Skylar Warn knocked in two runs.

KEY MOMENTS
- Ashlyn Desaulniers led off with a walk and scored when Waterer followed with a homerun to left centerfield. Ava Cino drew a walk and advanced on a fielders choice before scoring on a throwing error with two outs to make it 3-0.
- In the bottom of the inning, the Spartans tied it on back-to-back home runs. Maddy Morris hit a two-run homer followed by Aniyah Michalaak hitting a solo home run.
- NSU scored three more runs in the second inning. Morris was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score the first run. Back-to-back singles by Michalak and Bristyl Riddick each drove in a run to make it 6-3.
- Victoria Oliveira led off the fourth by reaching on an error. She would steal second with two outs before scoring on a single by Cino to make it 6-4.
- Kristina Bozek led off the sixth with a single and moved to third on a double by Desaulniers. Bozek would score on a passed ball to make it a one-run game.
- The Spartans pushed across two runs in the bottom of the sixth, scoring one run each on a sacrifice and a single to make it 8-5.
- Stella Gasper doubled to lead off the seventh inning for CCSU. Warn followed with a double to drive in a run and make it 8-6, but NSU would then retire three in a row to end the game.
NOTES
- Warn has five RBIs through four games.
- CCSU had five extra-base hits and has 18 through four games.
- McKenna Stewart started in the circle for CCSU and took the loss.
- Grace Lawton is hitting a team-best .529 through four games.
