Maziarz, Kenney Earn NEC Weekly Honors
Maziarz took home diver of the week, while Kenney becomes second Blue Devil rookie of the week honoree
Central Connecticut State swimming and diving took home a pair of NEC weekly accolades on Wednesday, as Jewelle Maziarz was named the league's Diver of the Week and Addison Kenney was the Rookie of the Week. The duo were joined as NEC Prime Performers by Maggie Rutledge.
Maziarz claims the NEC Diver of the Week award after winning the 1-meter dive and placing second in the 3-meter dive in Central Connecticut's dual meet win against Stony Brook on Saturday. The Newmarket, NH native recorded a score of 226.13 on the 1-meter board and scored a 235.43 in the 3-meter board.
Kenney contributed three individual wins in the dual meet, and was on a winning relay. She led off the 400 medley relay with a 100 back time of 58.75, registering the fourth-fastest time in the conference for that event and helping her team win the relay. Kenney won again in the 100 back, clocking a time of 59.62. In the 200 back, Kenney claimed victory with a time of 2:08.09, the third-fastest 200 back time in the NEC this season. Kenney's most impressive result was in the 200 IM, where she won the event in 2:11.47 to claim the top time on the conference performance list.
Rutledge was tabbed as a Prime Performer after winning the 1,000 free (10:45.47) by more than 13 seconds, and the 500-freestyle in a time of 5:13.69.
The Blue Devils are back in action this weekend with a two-day dual at the University of New Hampshire. The meet begins Friday at 5:00 pm and the second part will get underway on Saturday at 11:00 am.
