Haid Named NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week; Jones Prime Performer
Devin Haid of the Central Connecticut men's basketball team earned his fourth Northeast Conference/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week honor it was announced on Tuesday. Haid was joined on the league's Prime Performer list by Jordan Jones after the pair helped the Blue Devils to two wins last week in league play.
Haid had an impressive week, claiming his league-leading fourth Player of the Week nod. He led CCSU in scoring with 18.5 points per game, while adding 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals. He shot a blistering 75 percent from the field and from three-point range, while not committing a turnover in 53 minutes of action. Haid scored a game-high 20 points at Le Moyne, including pouring in seven points in the opening 4:22. The junior added four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. On Sunday he led CCSU with 17 points against Chicago State. He also grabbed seven rebounds, with four assists and two steals. He totaled 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting in the 2nd half.
Jones was sterling in a pair of wins, posting 15.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.0 spg last week. The senior shot 12-of-24 (.500) from the field. He poured in 15 points, with five rebounds and four assists and was +9 in the win at Le Moyne. He opened the scoring after the half with a trifecta as CCSU quickly pushed its lead to 55-35 with 16:47 to play. Jones had 16 points, six rebounds and two assists without a turnover in the win over CSU. He contributed two steals in the game and had 5 of CCSU's first 7 points in 3:27 as Central did not trail in the game.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Thursday at LIU in a matchup of the league's top two teams.
