Men's Basketball Pulls Away for 87-66 Win Over FDU
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team won its sixth-straight Northeast Conference contest, pulling away from FDU in the second half on Thursday night for a 87-66 win in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils shot 56 percent from the field in the second half, and got points from eight different players to extend its first-place lead atop the league standings.
Devin Had had a career-high 25 points, while Jordan Jones added 14 points and Jayden Brown, Abdul Momoh and Joe Ostrowsky each added 11 points. Central shot 29-of-56 (.518) overall and was 8-of-22 (.364) from three-point range. The Blue Devils were 21-of-23 (.913) at the foul line.
Terrence Brown had a game-high 29 points to lead the Knights. FDU shot 24-of-65 (.369) overall and 10-of-36 (.278) on three-pointers. The Knights were 8-of-13 (.615) at the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central Connecticut would take a 16-9 lead, forcing an FDU timeout just 6:12 into the game. Devin Haid would make back-to-back baskets to cap a six-point spurt and give the Blue Devils a seven-point lead. A pair of foul shots by James Jones would make it a 10-point game at the 12:04 mark.
- The Blue Devils would lead by as much as 33-18 following a Jordan Jones triple, but five quick points by the Knights forced Central to take a timeout. Central would manage to hang on to its lead, but a 6-0 run by the Knights would cut the margin to four with 2:38 to go in the half before heading into halftime, trailing by 43-39.
- The Knights opened the second half with five quick points and took their first lead of the night at 44-43 with 18:06 to play. Central would misfire on nine straight three-pointers until Devin Haid and Jayden Brown hit consecutive treys and put CCSU ahead 53-48 with 14:29 to go.
- Central would hold FDU without a field goal for over four minutes and would push its lead back to double-figures. A 15-2 run, which included five straight points by Jaelen McGlone and was capped by a Jordan Jones jumper, would make it 68-53 with 9:51 to go. The stretch included seven unanswered points to close the run and was ignited by a Darin Smith, Jr. three-pointer.
- FDU would cut the lead to 10 points with 5:56 remaining but the Blue Devils would outscore the Knights, 13-2 in a span of 3:40 to pull away. A three-pointer by Haid would put CCSU ahead 85-64 with 2:16 to play matching the largest lead of the night and the final margin.
