Men's Basketball Announces Addition of Gabe Spinelli
Central Connecticut head men's basketball coach Patrick Sellers has announced the addition Gabe Spinelli to the program for the 2025-26 season. Spinelli joins the Blue Devils as a transfer after spending last season at Chicago State.
Spinelli comes to New Britain after spending a year at fellow Northeast Conference member, Chicago State. He started 22 of 26 games and averaged 9.5 points, 3.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game, while playing 30.4 minutes per game. He shot 43.2 percent from three-point range and 42.7 percent from the field overall. The 6-foot-2 guard scored 20 or more in a game three times, including a season-best 25 points at Stonehill when he shot 11-of-16 from the field and 3-of-4 from the arc. In his career he has played in 71 total games, while averaging over 20 minutes a game and contributing 6.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.7 steals per game. He has a 36.9 career shooting percentage from three. Spinelli has also played collegiately at Evansville and Monmouth in addition to his time at CSU.
"Gabe is a tough player who brings a high basketball IQ and familiarity with the Northeast Conference whose motivation fits within the mold of our program," said Sellers "In a competitive NIL era, we are excited to welcome another player to the CCSU basketball family who prioritizes culture and team over individual accomplishments. We look forward to having Gabe contribute to the continued success of our program."
