Volleyball Held off by Rhode Island on Saturday
The Central Connecticut volleyball team lost in three sets to Rhode Island at the Stony Brook Tournament on Saturday. Weronika Poczynek and Olivia Keckler led the Blue Devils in kills, while hitting .153 as a team.

KEY MOMENTS
- In the opening set, CCSU tied the score at 7-7 on a kill by Sonja Lind before a kill by Amanda Tokam gave Central a lead. A kill by Keckler would make it 13-12 and force a URI timeout. The Rams would score three straight to go ahead for good at 17-14. An ace by Anja Milosevic got CCSU within, 21-20, but URI scored back-to-back points to win the opening set.
- A kill by Poczynek opened the scoring in the second set and CCSU would build a 4-0 cushion. Central led throughout the set until URI scored three straight to go ahead 17-16. Central would recover to take a 20-18 lead after kills by Tokam and Keckler. Poczynek tied the set at 23 before URI scored the set's final two points.
- The Rams built a 7-2 lead to open the third set, but CCSU would recover and scored four straight to tie the score, 14-14 after a kill by Lind. Gabriella Burdier would tie the set at 20-20 before URI went on a 5-1 run to close out the match.
