Volleyball Held Off Against LIU on Saturday
The Central Connecticut volleyball team was held off by LIU and fell, 3-0, on Saturday in NEC action in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils were led by Weronika Poczynek who had 12 kills.

KEY MOMENTS
- The first set opened in a back-and-forth fashion with CCSU going ahead by as much as 9-7 after a kill by Victoria Sanabria. After an Amanda Tokam kill tied the score at 11-all, LIU would score back-to-back points and take the lead for good. CCSU would trail, 22-18, before kills by Poczynek and Breanna Ginley cut the deficit to 22-20. LIU took a timeout before responding with three points to finish the set.
- A kill by Poczynek opened the second set scoring, but LIU would forge ahead with four points and did not trail the rest of the way. CCSU would tie the set at 12-all after a block by Tokam and Anja Milosevic. The Sharks would maintain their lead and go ahead by as much as 21-17 before the Blue Devils rallied to tie the score late. Ginley and Poczynek teamed up on a block to draw within, 22-21, before CCSU eventually leveled the score on a kill by Olivia Keckler at 23-23. The Sharks would take a timeout before scoring back-to-back points to take the set.
- Central raced ahead, 4-1, in the third set after an ace by Milosevic to force a quick LIU timeout. The Blue Devils would maintain their advantage until a run of eight straight points by the Sharks put them in front, 20-14. A kill by Keckler ended the run, but CCSU would get no closer than 23-19 the rest of the way.

- Poczynek hit .267 and added three blocks and two digs.
- Ginley had a team-high four blocks with seven kills.
- Milosevic had 33 assists, eight digs and two aces.

- LIU took advantage of a combined 22 service and service reception errors by CCSU in an otherwise even match.
- LIU has won nine straight matchups in the series.
