Volleyball Drops Conference Opener to Saint Francis U on Friday
The Central Connecticut volleyball fell at home against Saint Francis U in the NEC opener for both schools. Although the Red Flash won, 3-0, every set was decided by just two points.

KEY MOMENTS
- The first set opened with SFU scoring five straight points to take an early 6-3 lead. Central would climb back to go up 8-7 after back to back kills by Olivia Keckler. A kill by Weronika Poczynek would tie the set at 17-17, but SFU scored back-to-back points to go ahead for good. SFU led 23-20 before CCSU climbed back to 24-23 before the Red Flash won the set.
- The Red Flash used a run of seven straight points, including four aces, to build a 8-1 lead in the second set. Central would regroup with a run of six straight points to get within, 11-10, after a block by Amanda Tokam and Anja Milosevic. The Blue Devils would take a 20-18 lead in the frame after three straight kills by Aubrey Stitcher, but SFU would score three straight late to go ahead, 24-22, before winning the set.
- The teams went back-and-forth in the third frame until SFU edged ahead, 17-13, midway through the set. The Blue Devils would rally with a 7-1 run, taking a 20-18 lead after a Tokam-Poczynek block. Central would fend off a pair of match points before SFU scored back-to-back points to win the match.

- Poczynek and Keckler led the Central attack with 11 kills each.
- Milosevic had 28 assists.
- Gabriella Burdier had nine digs and two aces.
- Central had 47 digs, compared to 38 for SFU and had a .245 attack percentage, compared to .243 for SFU.
- CCSU is 29-17 all-time against SFU. The Red Flash have won the past seven matchups.
