Poczynek Named All-NEC Second Team
Weronika Poczynek of the Central Connecticut State volleyball team was named All-NEC Second Team it was announced on Thursday afternoon. The awards were announced on the eve of the league's postseason tournament slated to beging on Nov. 21..
Poczynek had a strong campaign, leading CCSU with 3.16 kills per set. She hit .145 and added 1.14 digs per set and 0.36 blocks per set. She added five assists and five service aces. The outside hitter had 17 matches with double-digit kills and posted a double-double with 21 kills and 10 digs against New Haven on Nov. 7. In all matches, Poczynek ranked third in the circuit in kills per set. In NEC play, she averaged 3.31 kills/set and ranked third in the league.
The NEC Tournament opens on Friday with second-seeded Saint Francis U. playing third-seeded FDU and top-seeded LIU facing fourth-seeded Mercyhurst. LIU is hosting the championship tournament in Brooklyn.
