Volleyball Drops Tight Match at Providence on Friday
The Central Connecticut volleyball team dropped its opener at the Friar Classic, falling to Providence, 3-1, on Friday evening. Olivia Keckler had a career-high 22 kills and posted a double-double, along with Anja Milosevic.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils raced out to a 7-3 lead in the first set, following Olivia Keckler's second kill. Central would extend its lead to 16-11 after an ace by Annabelle Denommé and a kill by Keckler. The Friars would take a timeout and managed to eventually draw even at 20-20. PC would score seven straight points and won the set, 25-21, after the sides traded points.
- In the second set, PC built a 10-4 lead before CCSU called a timeout. A kill by Anja Milosevic would make it 12-6 and set up a run of nine straight points. Milosevic would tie the set, 12-12, with her second ace of the run and kills by Weronika Poczynek and Keckler put Central ahead, 14-12. The Blue Devils would not surrender the lead and after PC tied the set at 23, Poczynek would record a kill and Breanna Ginley and Sonja Lund combined for a block to win the set, 25-23.
- CCSU trailed in the early-going of the third set before a run of four straight points put it ahead. Amanda Tokam started the spurt with a kill and an ace by Lesly Camacho-Vega made it 10-9 before a pair of PC errors put Central ahead, 11-10. The Friars would forge ahead and led by as much as 21-16 before a Poczynek kill was followed by a Ginley block made it 22-20. The teams would trade runs of two and three points, respectively, before PC closed took a two sets to one lead following a block to win, 25-23.
- In the fourth frame Providence exerted control early, forcing a pair of CCSU timeouts and building a 12-2 lead. Cullen Winter and Poczynek combined for a block, and Milosevic served a pair of aces to give CCSU its longest scoring run in the frame, but PC would end the match with a 5-1 spurt.

- Keckler hit .315 and added 10 digs in the match.
- Milosevic finished with 35 assists and 17 digs, along with five aces.
- Poczynek finished 13 kills and had four digs.
- Gabriella Burdier and Denommé added 12 and 10 digs, respectively.
- Ginley had three blocks to lead CCSU.
- CCSU had 563 digs as a team, compared to 62 for PC. Central had 48 kills, while PC had 42
- Central is 12-11 all-time against Providence.
