Volleyball Stumbles Against Mercyhurst
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell to Mercyhurst, 3-1, in NEC action on Saturday in New Britain. The Blue Devils were led by Olivia Keckler with 13 kills, but were hindered by 16 service errors.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils led 17-13 after an ace by Breanna Ginley in the first set, but Mercyhurst called timeout and promptly went on a 9-2 run to take the lead at 22-19. A pair of kills by Weronika Poczynek would get Central within, 22-21, but the Lakers managed to hold the lead and take the opening set.
- CCSU jumped out to a 6-1 lead after back-to-back kills by Aubrey Stitcher and Amanda Tokam. Mercyhurst would swing the momentum with a run of eight straight points to go ahead, 10-7. The Lakers would increase the lead to 16-9 and Central could get no closer than four points the rest of the frame.
- In the third set, CCSU trailed 11-5 but would chip away at the deficit and tied it 17-17 after a kill by Keckler. A kill by Pocynek put Central ahead, 21-20, and a block by Stitcher and Ginley would close the set out to extend the match.
- In the fourth set, Mercyhurst scored six straight to go ahead, 8-3, and never gave up the lead. CCSU would get within, 12-9 but the Lakers would not allow it to get any closer and closed the match out with back-to-back points.

16 – CCSU committed 16 service errors, compared to just nine by Mercyhurst.
