Volleyball's Season Ends in Setback at FDU
The Central Connecticut volleyball team had its season come to a close with a three-set setback at FDU on Saturday in NEC action. Olivia Keckler had a team-leading nine kills with five digs, while Weronika Poczynek had seven kills, six digs, two aces and a block.

KEY MOMENTS
- FDU would take the lead from the jump in the opening set and forced a CCSU timeout after tallying an ace to go ahead, 13-8. The Blue Devils trailed, 15-9, before cutting the deficit to 16-14. Weronika Poczynek started the run with an ace and kills by Olivia Keckler and Aubrey Stitcher would get CCSU within two points. After a kill by Poczynek made it 22-20, the Knights would score back-to-back points to set up set point, before winning on an error following a Blue Devils kill.
- Back-to-back kills by Poczynek would tie the second set at 3-3 before she tallied another kill and then followed that with a service ace to put CCSU ahead, 5-4. The Blue Devils led, 9-8, after a kill by Keckler but FDU would run off four straight points to regain the lead. The Knights would go ahead by as much as 18-12 before the Blue Devils could get within, 20-18 after another kill by Keckler. FDU scored four straight points and would close out the second set.
- The third set would be tied at three following back-to-back CCSU points. FDU responded with three straight points to take the lead again, but CCSU would hang around and was within 10-9 after a kill by Breanna Ginley. The Knights would push the margin to 14-9 before CCSU collected itself with a timeout. The Blue Devils ran off four consecutive points after a kill by Keckler, a pair by Anja Milosevic and another by Amanda Tokam to tie the set at 15-15. An error by the Knights put FDU ahead, 16-15, but the Knights came back with seven unanswered points and would close out the match.
NUMBER TO KNOW
8 – Despite Saturday's loss, CCSU finished .500 in NEC play with an 8-8 record, marking its most league wins since 2019 (10).

- CCSU increased its overall win total by five in 2025 and its NEC win total by six victories.
- Milosevic had 31 assists with three kills, six digs and a block.
- Ginley had six kills, three blocks and an ace.
- Annabelle Denommé had 12 digs and two aces.
- Central is 31-12 in the series dating back to 2002, but FDU has won the past nine meetings.
